Afcon 2021Q: 20 players begin Black Stars preps for March games

Twenty players were present when the home-based contingent of the Black Stars opened preparations for next month’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Monday.

Ghana play South Africa away and host Sao Tome and Principe on March 24 and 28 respectively to complete the qualification process to Cameroon 2021.

Head coach CK Akonnor led the side in a session that lasted an hour at the Mc Dan Park at La.

The team trained without players of Asante Kotoko who have been excused from this week’s training in order to have enough time for their Caf Confederation Cup second leg game away to ES Sétif.

King Faisal forward Kwame Peprah – who has scored 8 goals in the league – will join the team Monday night after their game against Legon Cities.

Great Olympics quartet – Haruna Jamal Deen, Gladson Awako, Michael Otou and Maxwell Abbey – likewise goalkeeper Lord Bawa Martey of Elmina Sharks will also report after their league game on Tuesday.
