VIDEO: Tariqe Fosu bags brace in rampant Brentford victory

The Black Stars attacker scored for the successive game after netting against Swansea in mid-week.

Ghana’s Tariqe Fosu was handed his sixth start in 25 league outings and crowned it with a brace as Brentford demolished bottom club Wycombe 7-2 at home in the English Championship Saturday afternoon.

Ethan Pinnock’s 9th-minute opener for Brentford was swiftly cancelled out by an individual goal by Nigerian Uche Ikpeazu for the visiting Chairboys five minutes later.

Fosu, however, restored the Bees’ lead in the 41st minute when he reacted quickest to stab the ball home after keeper Ryan Allsop could only parry Ivan Toney’s goal-bound volley.  The Black Stars winger took credit for the goal.

There was still time for Wycome to go in level at the break, with Admiral Muskwe arriving at the far post to nod home former Brentford defender Darius Charles’ cross in the 43rd minute.

Brentford grabbed their third goal five minutes after the restart as Fosu’s low angled drive flew into the far corner.

And they made it four from the penalty spot in the 56th minute, with Toney coolly slotting home his 17th of the season after Canos was upended in the box by Fred Onyedinma.

Sergi Canos scored the Bees’ fifth in the 81st minute before Toney snatched his second of the game 5 minutes later and Josh Dasilva also found the net a minute from time.

Tariqe Fosu’s brace increased his season’s tally to 4 league goals. He lasted 82 minutes in the game at the Brentford Community Stadium.

The victory extended Brentford’s unbeaten run to 18 league games and they now go third on the English Championship table.
