Toufiq free-kick rescues Faisal in Sharks draw

After giving away a penalty, Razak Toufiq saved his own blushes with a second-half free-kick as King Faisal fought back to snatch a 1-1 draw at home to Elmina Sharks on match-day 9 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

Second from bottom, the ‘Insha Allah’ Boys hoped for a first win in three games under new boss Andy Sinason but they had to chase the game after 40 minutes at their adopted Ohene Ameyaw Park home grounds on Sunday.

Sloppy defending saw Razak Toufiq concede a penalty as he recklessly shoved a Sharks attacker over in the Faisal box.

James Bissue stepped up for the visitors and expertly planted the ball into the net – his third goal this campaign.

Faisal trailed 1-0 at the break.

But Toufiq would wake amends in the second half.

The 26-year-old midfielder got King Faisal back into the game with a ferocious free-kick strike from the edge of the box to level the scoring just before the hour mark.

That was all the game could produce – a 1-1 stalemate.

King Faisal remain 17th on the Ghana Premier League log while Elmina Sharks sith 10 with both teams playing nine matches each.
