Legon Cities finally win after 8-match drought

Legon Cities defeated WAFA SC with a second-half penalty to put an end to an unhappy winless streak on match-day 8 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

The Royals had not recorded a win since the start of the campaign which has seen a change in the technical direction of the club since their second game.

It has taken new boss Bashir Hayford some six matches to snatch their first three points in the league.

After a barren opening half at the Accra Sports Stadium Friday night, new signing Matthew Anim Cudjoe earned Legon Cities a penalty. The teenage sensation was fouled in the box just three minutes into the second half.

Centre-back Joseph Adjei stepped up for the penalty and converted – his second time this season.

Legon Cities managed to hold on to the 1-0 lead for their first win.

The victory momentarily moves the Royals one step up from bottom spot of the 18-team league log on six points.

WAFA SC right-back Samed Abdul Karim Mohammed was adjudged NASCO man-of-the-match.
