GFA threatens clubs with stadium closure over breach of COVID-19 protocols

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has issued a caution to clubs that it would close down any match venue where the COVID-19 safety protocols are violated.

This was stated by the General Secretary of the GFA, Prosper Harrison Addo, during a virtual meeting with Safety & Security Officers and Representatives of the 18 Premier League clubs on Wednesday, January 20.

The meeting, which was to review the COVID-19 protocols and operations, was held as a result of some breaches of the GFA’s match-day protocols at some league venues.

The Ghana Government recently gave the go-ahead for stadiums to admit 25% capacity, on condition that the COVID-19 protocols are strictly adhered to.

But the compliance has been poor so far at various match venues.

The Ghana Football Association has stated that it will continue to monitor the situation and will take the necessary steps to ensure compliance.
