#FootyTransfers: Nomadic Amed Touré joins Medeama for 5th GPL stint

Former Asante Kotoko striker Amed Touré is back in the Ghana Premier League for the fifth time after signing for Tarkwa-based Medeama SC.

The Mauve and Yellows announced the free transfer acquisition on Tuesday after he passed a mandatory medical examination.

Touré, 33, signed a two-year contract.

The Burkinabe international’s first stint in the Ghanaian topflight was a successful outing with giants Asante Kotoko when he joined from Africa Sports of Cote d’Ivoire in July 2006.

Touré was in-and-out of the club three times – leaving the Porcupine Warriors after two years for RSC Lokeren in Belgium and returning in 2010; then a controversial exit in 2012 for Egyptian side El Gouna and comeback in 2014. He left again after a one-year spell for Lebanese side Al-Nejmeh in 2015.

After a failed spell with Nejmeh, Touré switched back to the Ghana Premier League in September 2016 but this time with Bechem United who were going to compete in the 2017 Caf Confederation Cup.

Amed Touré’s nomadic playing career saw him exit Bechem in less than a year to sign for Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas and then to AS Vita Club of DR Congo.

In July 2020, he was reported to have signed a one-year deal with Guinean side AS Kaloum but some six months on, Touré has found a way back to the GPL with Medeama who have been in dire need of a top finisher in the ongoing season.
