Cagliari move to sign free-agent Kwadwo Asamoah

Struggling Cagliari Calcio are reportedly looking to sign free-agent Ghana international Kwadwo Asamoah.

The Rossoblù are in the relegation zone of the 2020/21 Italian Serie A after six consecutive Serie A defeats and are keen on beefing up their squad for a survival battle after recently signing Black Stars midfielder Alfred Duncan from Fiorentina.

Asamoah is a familiar face in Serie A from his time with Udinese, Juventus and Inter Milan.

The 32-year-old terminated his contract with the Nerazzurri by mutual consent on October 5 and has been training on his own ever since.

The move will not only see Asamoah join up with compatriot Duncan but also with former Inter teammates Godin and Nainggolan.

His free-agent status allows any club to sign him beyond the February 1 winter transfer deadline date.

Kwadwo Asamoah’s last match in Serie A came in December 2019. Overall, he has made 270 appearances in the Italian topflight, winning the Scudetto six times, Coppa Italia four times, and the Supercoppa thrice.
