Caf CL: Kotoko take 22 players for Al-Hilal reverse leg

Interim Asante Kotoko coach, Johnson Smith has named a 22-man squad travelling to Omdurman to take on Al-Hilal in the reverse leg of their 2020/21 Caf Champions League group stage qualifying decider.

The Porcupine Warriors have a daunting task of overturning a 1-0 first-leg deficit when the two sides face off at the Al-Hilal Stadium on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

Fit-again skipper Felix Annan is among three goalkeepers making the trip likewise rookie defender Andrews Apau and Brazilian import Fabio Gama who only made his debut in their last game against Medeama SC.

Kotoko’s contingent, which will have GFA Executive Committee member Nana Sarfo Oduro as leader of delegation, depart via an Ethiopian Airways flight at mid-day Sunday. The team is scheduled to sleep over on transit in Addis Ababa before continuing with a short trip to Omdurman in the early hours of Monday.

The Hilal-Kotoko clash is scheduled for 13:00 GMT kickoff with Rwandan Louis Hakizimana as centre referee.

The aggregate winner of this tie advances to the group stage of the Caf Champions League while the loser drops to battle in the final round of the Confederation Cup group stage qualifiers.
