Agyenim Boateng brace gives Medeama 2-1 win over Aduana

Isaac Agyenim Boateng scored a brace as Medeama SC beat Aduana Stars 2-1 to record their first home win in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League (GPL) Saturday afternoon.

The 24-year-old left-winger, as early as the 16th minute, finished off a flick pass from striker Abass Mohammed to hand the hosts the lead.

Aduana hit back 10 minutes later when a Bright Adjei effort wrongfooted goalkeeper Frank Boateng who stood in for first-choice Eric Ofori-Antwi who took ill before the match.

The first half ended 1-1 at Akoon Park.

The Mauve and Yellows returned from the break determined to win as they kept the heat on the visitors for the better part of the exchanges.

And a predating Agyenim Boateng ensured the three points stayed at Tarkwa as he tapped the ball into the net after a sublime build-up in the 76th minute – his brace and third goal this season.

Medeama needed the win to turn around their fortunes after drawing their first three home matches against Great Olympics (1-1), Liberty Professionals (0-0) and Asante Kotoko (1-1).

The result was Medeama’s first win in four matches on home soil and lifted them into ninth place in the GPL, with 10 points from 8 games.

Aduana are in 8th spot, also with 10 points.
