Kotoko thank Ghana President, Sports Ministry for $100k cash support

Asante Kotoko have issued a ‘Thank You’ message to Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo and the Sports Ministry for supporting the club with cash to the tune of $100,000 for their 2020/21 Caf Champions League campaign.

It will be recalled that on November 13, the management of the Porcupine Warriors paid a courtesy call on the President at the seat of government, Jubilee House during which they made a request for financial assistance in embarking on the Africa journey.

In a statement signed by CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah Tuesday, the club indicated that they have been beneficiaries of a benevolent act from the President who reiterated his staunch support with a $50,000 donation.

Kotoko also received an amount of GH¢300,000 (a little over $50,000) from the Sports Ministry to aid their campaign.

The club statement thanked President Akufo Addo and the Sports Ministry for the donations and have vowed to do their best in the continental competition. Read below:

Asante Kotoko face an arduous task of overturning a 1-0 first-leg deficit against Al-Hilal in their bid to qualify for the Champions League group stage. They travel to face the Sudanese giants for the second leg on January 6.

Should they fail in their pursuit, Kotoko will drop to play in the final qualifying stage to the 2020/21 Caf Confederation Cup competition.
