#GPLwk2: Hearts, AshantiGold trade goals in 2-2 draw

Former Golden boot winner Hans Kowfie scored in added time to give AshantiGold a 2-2 tie with Hearts of Oak in the final fixture for match-day two in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League Tuesday night.

The crunch tie – which saw kickoff delayed by 26 minutes from the scheduled 18:00 GMT due to Accra  Sports Stadium lighting challenges – saw forward Kwado Obeng Jnr. putting the Phobians in front in the 32nd minute with an easy close-range finish.

That strike ensured Hearts led 1-0 at the break.

But the Miners, who had faded out after a bright opening 25 minutes, responded with the equalizer just 8 minutes into the second half through Hans Kwofie.

Obeng Jnr. restored the lead for Hearts in the 80th minute, heading home a sweet cross from returnee winger Patrick Razak.

Hearts looked like winning their very first game of the season but bottled things inside the three minutes of additional time shown by the referee, allowing Kwofie to tie it in once more for AshantiGold.

2-2 the entrailing tie ended.

Hearts of Oak, who had their opening fixture away to Aduana Stars rescheduled due to COVID-19 concerns, are on one point while AshantiGold also have two – having drawn their first game at home to Karela United.
