Afcon 2021Q: Wakaso joins 22 others for Ghana trip to Sudan

Coach CK Akonnor has 23 players on board as the Ghana senior national team – Black Stars – depart Accra for Khartoum Sunday to face Sudan in their fourth game in Group C of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifying.

The match-day four fixture scheduled for Al-Hilal Stadium, Omdurman on Tuesday, November 17 with 13:00 GMT kickoff is the reverse of a doubleheader tie between the two countries.

Two goals from skipper Andre Ayew saw Ghana win the first meeting 2-0 at Cape Coast Stadium, ensuring the Black Stars continue their unblemished run in the race to Cameroon 2021 Afcon.

With 9 points and five goals without concession, the Black Stars are on brink of qualification and a win on Tuesday seals that.

After Thursday’s win, the team has been further by the availability of the versatile Jeffrey Schlupp (Crystal Palace), Majeed Ashimeru (Red Bull Salzburg) and Mubarak Wakaso who was allowed to skip the first game and focus on winning the Chinese Super League with Jiangsu Suning. The new league champion arrived in camp Saturday night.

The Black Stars are scheduled to fly out of the country by midday Sunday.
