Victorien Adebayor joins HB Køge till 2023

He has been handed the number 10 shirt.

Inter Allies forward Victorien Adebayor has completed a permanent transfer to sister club HB Køge in the Danish second-tier.

The Niger international arrived in the Scandinavian country from Accra on Saturday and signed to a three-year contract after completing his medical.

Adebayor has been with Inter Allies since the 2017/18 season when the ‘Eleven Is To One’ side scooped everyone to sign the 2017 Wafu Cup of Nations revelation for a reported $100,000 fee from AS GNN.

The 23-year-old took the Ghanaian topflight by storm but was not lucky to complete a full season throughout his stay due to the challenges which befell the country’s football.

In his debut season, Adebayor had scored 7 goals in 12 games to lead the scorers’ chart but that season was truncated after the Anas corruption scandal hit top officials of Ghana football.

Adebayor, again, led the race for the golden boot with 12 goals and 5 assists in 13 appearances in the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League but COVID-19 outbreak hit the country in March, forcing another season to be cancelled.

“We have high expectations for Victorien Adebayor. When we pick up such a high-profile player, we also believe that he can become a crucial figure with us.

”Adebayor is an exceptional player who can cover all places in the offense. Both on the edges, centrally behind the front attacker and all the way in front.

”He has speed in his feet and some technical skills that allow him to put his direct opponent, and then he has a strong left leg,“ said HB Køge director Per Rud, who has been to Ghana and seen the new HB Køge player in action, just as there has also been good intelligence from Henrik Lehm.

Henrik Lehm, who has a past as head coach at HB Køge, was earlier this year – until the corona shutdown in March – head coach at Inter Allies FC.

Victorien Adebayor will play alongside some familiar faces who are with HB Køge – Abdul Nassiru Hamzah, Effiong Nsungusi Jnr, Kwabena Kyeremateng and recently, Frank Assinki.

Both Inter Allies and HB Køge belong to the Capelli Sport global network of clubs.
