UEL: Elvis Manu hat-trick not enough to save Ludogorets

Ghana hopeful, Elvis Manu bagged a hat-trick but that was not enough as Ludogorets suffered a 4-3 defeat to LASK in the Europa League Thursday night.

With just two minutes played, LASK shot themselves into the lead through Petar Filipovic.

Ten minutes from the opener, the Austrian side doubled their lead courtesy Andreas Grubber.

Manu, 27, pulled a goal back for visiting Ludogorets in the 15th minute.

Marko Raguz made it 3-1 for LASK in the 35th minute.

Back from recess, Ludogorets defender Olivier Verdon gifted a 56th-minute own goal for LASK to extend the advantage to 4-1.

Manu returned to the scoresheet with his second goal of the evening in the 67th minute.

The Dutch-born Ghanaian then completed his treble with a 74th-minute penalty to put the scoreline at 4-3.

Ludogorets, however, failed in their chase for a comeback as they lost for the second time in Group H of the 2020/21 Uefa Europa League competition.

Fellow Ghanaian, Bernard Tekpetey played 88 minutes and was yellow-carded in the 43rd minute.
