Ghana forward Sadat Karim marked his 28th birthday with a match-winning goal and 8th assist of the season for Halmstad who beat Västerås SK 2-1 in the Swedish Superettan Saturday.
Sadat set up Mikael Boman to notch home the opener in the 37th minute.
The solitary strike separated the two sides at the break.
But Västerås pulled level from the boot of Viktor Prodell in the 56th minute.
Upon restart, Halmstad piled pressure on the visitors and immediately restored the lead within a minute interval.
And it was no other person that the birthday boy who was at the end of the attack to ensure the lead and match-winning goal.
The 2-1 win means second-placed Halmstad are keeping the heat on Superettan leaders Degerfors who are also on 53 points but with a game less.
This season, Sadat Karim has scored two league goals and 8 assists in 23 matches for Halmstad BK.
