Najeeb Yakubu bidding time for Black Stars chance

Defender Najeeb Yakubu says he is bidding his time for a call-up to the Ghana senior national team.

Now 20, the fullback – who featured for Ghana at the 2017 Fifa U-17 World Cup in India – currently plies his trade in the Ukrainian Premier League with Vorskla Poltava.

The former UniStar Academy trainee is a toast of Vorskla’s manager, Yuriy Maksmimov as he has been rotated in several positions due to his versatility.

Speaking on his chances for a senior call-up by Ghana, Najeeb told Max FM:

“You have to work hard and bid your time for a national team call-up.

“It is every young player’s dream to play for the national team and I will be happy to represent the Black Stars.”

“It is a matter of time and hard work and I’m sure my time will surely come,” he added.

Najeeb Yakubu recently extended his contract by four years with Vorskla, the current joint Ukrainian Premier League leaders.
