Forward George Nana Kwame Ofosu scored the opener but it was not enough to save Varzim SC from a 3-1 defeat at Leixoes in the Portuguese LigaPro on Friday.
The 26-year-old, who was yellow-carded in the18th minute, netted the opening goal of the game in the 52nd minute.
The lead was, however, short-lived two minutes later with Rui Pedro equalizing for home team Leixoes.
Joao Silva then sent Leixoes into the lead in the 66th minute and went ahead to convert a penalty inside time added on to make it 3-1.
The defeat leaves Varzim 13th with 5 points after six matches.
George Ofosu now has two goals so far in the Portuguese second-tier division.
