Asante Kotoko look close to further stocking their left-back position with the acquisition of free agent Patrick Kojo Asmah.
The New Zealand 2015 Ghana U-20 Fifa World Cup squad member, now 24, according to sources, could be having a mandatory medical on Thursday to seal off an agreement between him and the Porcupine Warriors.
When sealed on time, Asmah whose last Ghanaian club was B.A United back in 2015, would be able to join his teammates to a three-week training camp in Koforidua this weekend.
After participating in the 2015 U-20 World Cup, Asmah secured his first move to Europe by signing a four-year deal with Italian Serie A side Atalanta. He began with the club’s youth side but injuries derailed his progression into the senior side of the Bergamo-based club.
Asmah enjoyed loan opportunities at US Avellino 1912 and US Salernitana 1919.
In the 2018/19 season, he also played on loan for FC Senica in the Slovakian topflight where he racked up 25 appearances, scored three goals and provided five assists.
The arrival of Patrick Asmah at Kotoko will see him fight for the first-choice spot with Imoro Ibrahim and Patrick Yeboah.
