Baakoh demands GH¢25k arrears before Kotoko extension

The Porcupines are offering the attacker a new GH¢3,500-per-month deal.

Maxwell Baakoh will be available to negotiate a new deal with Asante Kotoko if the club pays the agreed GH¢25,000 from last season.

The attacking midfielder – a former youth player of the Porcupines – rejoined the club in 2018 on a two-year deal after a fruitful spell at Karela United.

This contract is set to expire on Friday, October 30 and Footy-Ghana sources say Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu considers him key to his plans for the upcoming 2020/21 season.

The Kotoko management has offered the diminutive attacker a new deal.

But his representative Maxwell Essien says the club must clear its obligation of an unpaid final tranche of his enticement in the expiring contract – being an amount of GH¢25,000 – before negotiating any new deal.

“It’s true Kotoko is yet to pay GH¢25,000 for the last season which expires on Friday.

“Asante Kotoko has made an offer to the player but they can do better.

“A new offer should be better than the previous one.

“The new offer wants to pay Maxwell Baakoh GH¢3,500 monthly but we want them to give an improved offer.

“They should pay then we start with fresh negotiations,” Maxwell told Oyerepa FM.

Asante Kotoko are currently in preparations for the 2020/21 league season in Koforidua.
