Amartey tipped for December return, misses Leicester Europa League squad

Ghana defender Daniel Amartey is not included in Leicester City’s Europa League squad for this season.

After suffering a new harmstring injury against West Ham, coach Brendan Rodgers says the centre-back will miss the group stage games.

Hence the decision to sideline him from the team.

“For Amartey, it’s a case that his hamstring injury is likely to rule him out of all of the group games.

“Which means he will be in the treatment room until at least mid-December,” Rodgers said.

“He’s going to be out for a long period.

“He’s sustained a really bad hamstring injury which is such a shame because he’s worked so hard after a couple of years out.

“He got game-time and played so well against Manchester City, and then to play against West Ham and to pick up the injury.

“We were so disappointed for him.”

Daniel Amartey’s injury crisis might force Leicester to sign another central defender.

Currently, the Foxes have got first-choice centre-back Caglar Soyuncu also injured.
