Frank Acheampong provided a vital assist as winless Tianjin Teda avoided a ninth straight defeat by drawing 1-1 at home to Shijiazhuang Ever Bright in the 2020 Chinese Super League (CSL) Wednesday.
Teda, who are bottom of their group, fought feverishly in a bid to open the scoring but the visitors were resolute with the first half ending goalless.
Teda took the lead in the 70th minute when Sandro Lima met skipper Frank Acheampong’s cross with a powerful header. Watch video
However, ten minutes later, Chen Pu notched the equalizer for Ever Bright, erasing Teda’s hopes to get the season’s first victory.
Tianjin Teda now only have two points from 11 games in Group B of the 2020 CSL and look certain to be relegated from the Chinese topflight.
