Ghana forward, Samuel Tetteh wants to follow the success story of Black Stars duo Harrison Afful and Jonathan Mensah in the MLS.
Tetteh just joined New York Red Bulls on a six-month loan with an option to extend.
The former WAFA player is joining a league where compatriots Afful and Mensah are household names with Columbus Crew.
In a chat with Adamu Muftawu of Footy-Ghana.com, Tetteh says he wants to emulate the success story of Afful and Mensah.
“I want to emulate the success story of Harrison Afful and Jonathan Mensah because they are doing well with their club.
“Over the years, they have helped their team and have been successful. I want to follow the footsteps so I can also become as successful as they are.
“Football will take you to places and you have to sell yourself in any league you find yourself. Watching them (Afful and Mensah) play for their club and being successful, I want to take a cue and sell myself as well,” Tetteh stated.
Winning trophies
The 24-year-old has set sights on helping New York Red Bulls win trophies. He wants to be part of the history-making process after his loan spell.
Tetteh said: “Every player wants to win medals and individual awards, but I am targeting trophies with my new club.
“I want to help my new club win any competition we partake in.
“I want to score goals, I want to assist and do whatever I can to help my new team win all trophies at stake in every competition and make history with them.”
Last season, Tetteh played on loan at Austrian Bundesliga side LASK Linz where he scored 7 goals with 5 assists in 29 matches.
He returned to parent club Red Bull Salzburg after the spell but has been shipped him out on loan again for the next six months.
Samuel Tetteh graduated from Ghana Premier League side West Africa Football Academy (WAFA).
He was a member of Ghana’s team which played in the 2015 Fifa U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
