Biggest club: Kotoko present Nana Yaw Amponsah as CEO

Asante Kotoko have hired former Fifa Player Agent/Intermediary Nana Yaw Amponsah as their new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The young football administrator with a Master’s Degree in Sports Law and Practice from the Leicester De Montfort University in the UK, was officially introduced to the press and public at a lively ceremony in Kumasi on Friday.

Mr. Amponsah will be responsible for overseeing the club’s day-to-day activities while implementing the visions to be propounded by Dr. Kwame Kyei-led 12-member Kotoko board.

Speaking at the unveiling, Kwadwo Boateng Genfi, the spokesperson for the policymakers, revealed that “at [our] fifth meeting, the board unanimously voted for the approval and appointment of Nana Yaw Amponsah as CEO,” adding that after an interview they were convinced he is the “right choice needed to implement our vision.”

In his address, Nana Yaw Amponsah stated: “Asante Kotoko is the biggest club in Ghana, no doubt!

“And for me, it’s the third biggest club in Africa, in structure. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of its content.

“I am here to help the board and the entire Kotoko fraternity to match this superstructure with befitting content.

“I dare say that Asante Kotoko is bigger than NPP and NDC. Kotoko transcends boundaries. Kotoko is a culture.

“The joy this club gives its teeming supporters cannot be matched by any political party in Ghana.”

“I, therefore, plead with you to give me double of the support you give your individual political parties of choice, and we will make Asante Kotoko great again,” he added.

Nana Yaw Amponsah’s mandate will see him run concurrently with the three-year term handed the board.
