Luckassen extends PSV contract, rejoins Anderlecht on loan

Dutch-Ghanaian defender Derrick Luckassen will spend another season on loan with Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht, his parent club PSV Eindhoven announced Tuesday.

The centre-back has extended his contract in Eindhoven but will play next season with the former Jupiler league champions.

A club statement read: “Derrick Luckassen also plays on a loan basis for Anderlecht next season. The defender, PSV and the Belgian club have reached an agreement to loan him out to the Belgian record champion just like last season.

“Before his third rental period starts, Luckassen extends his contract with PSV until the summer of 2023…”

Luckassen made 21 appearances for Anderlecht before the past season got cancelled due to COVID-19 and the Belgian side were happy for the versatile defender to return.

Last month, Anderlecht were reported to have moved to sign him permanently but could not meet PSV’s cut-price of €3 million despite lowering the permanent clause option from €5 million.

Luckassen joined PSV from AZ Alkmaar three years ago, but the 25-year-old hasn’t impressed in Eindhoven. He has stated several times that he sees no future for himself at PSV, so another loan to Anderlecht is the solution.

Meanwhile, this second loan agreement comes with no purchase option.
