Baba Mensah plays full time in FC Ilves defeat

Former Ghana U-20 defender, Baba Mensah saw full-time action but could not rescue FC Ilves from a 2-0 defeat at HJK in the 2020 Finnish Veikkausliiga on Saturday.

The 25-year-old centre-back, who joined Ilves as a free agent from Inter Allies in 2017. started and played the entire duration of the match-day 6 tie at Sonera Stadium.

Ilves went down to HJK on the 25th minute from the boot of Tim Vaeyrynen.

No goals were recorded from both sides afterwards up until the break.

On return from recess, both sides engaged in hot exchanges but failed to find the net.

HJK’s relentlessness paid off on the 87th minute when Nikolai Alho assisted Ferhan Hasani to end the game at 2-0. Watch the two goals below:

HJK go top of the Veikkausliiga with 12 points, one better than KuPS after 5 matches with Ilves in 4th with points after 6 matches.

Baba Mensah, before joining Ilves, had stints abroad with Danish side, Viborg FF and BK Hacken in Sweden.
