Kotoko: ‘Give Kwame Baah maximum support,’ Annan urged

Medeama SC’s second-choice goalkeeper, Yaw Ansah Fufuro has urged Felix Annan to support Kwame Baah to succeed at Kotoko.

The Kotoko captain lost his position as first choice after taking a brief break for his marriage ceremony a few weeks into the 2019/20 Ghana football season.

Head coach Maxwell Konadu has since preferred Kwame Baah at the number 1 spot until the season got suspended due to COVID-19.

The decision for Baah’s retention has been a subject of debate among some Kotoko fans. And Yaw Ansah, who has played second fiddle to Eric Ofori-Antwi at Medeama for the past two-and-half seasons, has offered his thoughts.

“Sometimes you have to act professionally because nobody wants to sit on the bench.

“Two goalkeepers cannot be in the post at the same time. So if one of you is in the post, the other has to give his maximum support.

“Although there could sometimes be a misunderstanding as to who should be number 1, it is not necessary to over-blow issues,” he told Akoma FM.

Yaw Ansah continued: “Felix Annan is a very good goalkeeper likewise Kwame Baah but a situation forced him out of the number 1 spot. But when Kwame Baah came, he has been performing for Kotoko.

“This is Kwame Baah’s time so Felix must be patient and wait for his time.

“The best thing is for Annan to support Baah because coach Maxwell Konadu will not fix a bad goalkeeper for Kotoko to lose games.

“It is a matter of training hard and letting things go. If your time comes you will surely return to the number 1 spot.”

Felix Annan kept just five matches before going to the altar to wed his wife, Franny.

He has since lost his position to the former Inter Allies goalkeeper who joined Kotoko as a free agent last season.

Baah, 22, has also previously featured for former Ghana Premier League side Kpando Hearts of Lions. as well as Ghana’s national U-20 and the U-23 teams.
