Isaac Koomson expatiates how GPL clubs named Autonomous League C’ttee reps

Aduana Stars management member Isaac Koomson has explained how Ghana Premier League clubs settled on their three representatives for the five-member Autonomous League Committee.

Ghana Football Association (GFA), has initiated steps to finally make the country’s domestic top-flight competition autonomous May 5.

A five-man team consisting of three persons selected by the 18 league clubs and two other football brains nominated by the FA will begin the implementation of the new plan.

The high-level sides have approved Togbe Afede XI, Delali Eric Senaye, and John Ansah as the trio to make their demands and ideas known to the local football governing body.

“We discussed our submissions in the presence of the FA President who assured us of fast-tracking the move for the autonomous league,” the Aduana Stars Greater Accra Representative told Ashh FM.

“We proceeded to decide on our representatives and a lot of people nominated Togbe to lead the clubs on the autonomous league committee because of his passion and understanding of company registration and cooperation.

“Delali Senaye’s name popped up because of his understanding of the UK’s football dependency. He has educated a lot of us on that in our meetings and we’ve carried along with that.

“For Mr. Ansah, he had kept pushing for the implementation of the autonomous league for several years and his dedication gave him that nomination.”

Another debate that reared its head at the meeting was the matter of conflict of interest. Delali and Ansah are members of the current League board and are not eligible to work on the Autonomous League Committee.

But Koomson believes the issue is resolved.

“What nearly took us away for Delali and Ansah’s nomination was their involvement in PLB. Taking them off the committee was others’ plan since PLB would be consulted in making the league autonomous.”
