Clubs to be given time to reorganize after COVID-19 – GFA Scribe

The General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Prosper Harrison Addo has indicated that the football season cannot resume as soon as the COVID-19 pandemic is over.

The man in charge of the day-to-day running of affairs at the nation’s football governing body has revealed clubs would have to be allotted time to get their players back into shape before the season can resume.

In the grand scheme of things, football is unattractive right now. Yet for so many people isolated at home in the country, a return to the pitch immediately after the global pandemic ends could spark the excitement that was built before the season was suspended.

Prosper Harrison Addo, speaking to Joy Sports, thinks clubs will have to put things back in order and there will be no rush into continuing the season.

“We must give the clubs some time to train their players and reorganize before playing football again.

“We can’t just let the clubs play immediately after the virus come to an end,” he stated.

The lawyer, who once headed the Ghana FA Disciplinary Committee, advocated the observance of all prescribed protocols in the fight against the spread of the disease.

“We have to observe safety measures such as the washing of hands, avoiding shaking of hands and so on,” Prosper advised.

The Ghana Football Association pulled a plug on all competitions indefinitely after the government placed a ban on all social gatherings to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic wrecking the world on March 16.
