Legon Cities told to cough up $20k for James Akaminko – report

League leaders AshantiGold are reportedly demanding $20,000 from Legon Cities after enquiring about workaholic midfielder James Akaminko.

The former Tema Youth man has been a lynchpin in the Miners side over the past two years

Looking for reinforcements after a rather shaky start to the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League, nouveau-riche Cities have identified the holding midfielder as one of strategic signings to revive their season and keep them afloat the top-flight.

And sources claim the Miners have responded to a letter from the Royals quoting the five-figure transfer fee for the sale of Akaminko, who was linked to a Romanian club in the January transfer window.

Legon Cities are said to also been keen on meeting Kotoko halfway for a deal to secure the services of contract rebel Songne Yacouba whose deal with the Porcupine Warriors ends in about two months. The Royals are unable to risk waiting to sign him as a free agent as he will attain such status outside the second registration window.

The second window for the 2019/20 football season is set to open on the midnight of Monday, March 16 till the night of April 13, 2020.
