REVEALED: Smouha SC express interest in Songne Yacouba

Smouha SC are entering the running for Asante Kotoko contract rebel Songne Yacouba.

Footy-Ghana.com can report that the Egyptian topflight side have moved to enquire about the availability of the striker who is entering the final three months of his contract with the Porcupines.

They join Morocco’s Olympique Khouribga as the latest clubs to express to want to sign Yacouba in the January transfer window.

The Burkina Faso international has failed to agree on financial details on a new deal at Kotoko – despite being offered a two-year extension.

According to our sources, Yacouba received a letter of interest from Smouha and forwarded it to Kotoko’s General Manager. This happened just about the time Dr Kwame Kyei, the Executive Chairman of the club, publicly confessed they had been priced out of keeping Yacouba beyond his current contract.

Reports in a section of the media Tuesday claimed the 28-year-old had handed in a transfer request to Kotoko but the above is rather the case, Footy-Ghana’s checks indicated.

Contract renewal talks between Yacouba and Kotoko currently look completely broken after Dr Kyei declared the club cannot meet his $150,000 sign-on fee demands. The pronouncement came as a shock to the player’s camp especially when they were favourably considering a new proposal from Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu who has been heavily involved in the negotiations since returning to the club.
