2019/20 GPL: Adebayor inspires Inter Allies to 2-1 win over Bechem

A dominant display, Saturday afternoon, saw Inter Allies ran out 2-1 winners over Bechem United in their second game of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League.

Goals from Kwabena Kyeremateng and Victorien Adebayor as well as a Salifu Moro equalizer in between summed up a needed victory for the Eleven Is To One following their forgettable 4-0 season opening capitulation at Aduana Stars last weekend.

Nigerien import Victorien Adebayor, making his first outing of the season, was made captain of the day and the striker justified head coach Tonny Lokko’s decision with a man-of-the-match performance.

Inter Allies were strong from start and took the lead just before the 10th minute mark with Adebayor putting newly-signed striker Kwabena Kyeremateng through to hit home in a one-v-one with goalkeeper Prince Asempa.

Bechem, however, scored through a Salifu Moro header to level matters on 22 minutes. That was their first-ever away goal against Inter Allies in six visits.

But Adebayor, who had squandered a couple of chances, atoned for his profligacy by restoring the lead with a brilliant solo and finish in the 42nd minute.

Centre-back Seth Sowah was slow to the ball, allowing Adebayor to steal the ball off his feet and ran past him and an onrushing marker before hitting firmly beyond the reach of Asempa.

Inter Allies were all over Bechem in the second half who had goalkeeper and captain Prince Asempa to thank for his impressive saves.

Prior to that was the post denying Allies back-to-back goals – Kyeremateng first struck the crossbar from inside the box before another low grounder by midfielder Michel Otou agonizingly came off the right side of the upright.

No goal was further produced as the quite entertaining clash in front of 100s of supporters at the Accra Sports Stadium ended 2-1.

Victorien Adebayor was adjudged man-of-the-match.
