Official: Ahmed Adams swerves AshGold, rejoins Berekum Chelsea

Defender Ahmed Adams has swerved AshantiGold to re-sign with former club Berekum Chelsea.

The Bibires announced the return of the centre-back, who has been without a club since leaving Asante Kotoko in January 2018, on Thursday. The announcement failed to specify the duration of the β€œpermanent deal.”

Adams looked to have agreed to join AshantiGold about a month ago and even began to train with the coach Ricardo Da Rocha side in Obuasi but the move fell through as both parties failed to agree on some key terms.

Sources say the player preferred to play for AshantiGold without taking a signing-on fee but be allowed to leave the club for free once an offer arrives at any point in the season, something the Miners rejected.

Ahmed Adams, 27, will be looking to get his career back on track in familiar territory when the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League gets underway on the weekend of December 27-29. Berekum Chelsea visit Hearts of Oak on the opening day of the season.
