Asante Kotoko striker George Abege has been ruled out of Sunday’s Caf Confederation Cup clash against San Pedro with a back injury.
The Uganda import suffered the setback in a preparatory match last week and had been racing against time to be ready for the playoffs first-leg at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
An opponent stepped on Abege’s back in the last friendly the team played at the training grounds and has since had his waist area swollen. He has been receiving treatment but is unlikely to be fit for Sunday,” Kotoko management member Nana Kwasi Gyambibi said.
George Abege is said to be out for at least two weeks.
He joins five others – Maxwell Baakoh, Abass Mohammed, Wahab Adam’s, Abdul Ganiyu Ismail, Richard Senanu – on the Kotoko treatment table.
