Richard Arthur promises more goals to Kotoko fans

The striker broke his duck against Etoile at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Richard Arthur has promised more goals for Asante Kotoko after finally netting his first in Sunday’s Caf Champions League home win over Etoile du Sahel.

The Porcupine Warriors beat the Tunisians 2-0 with the striker, who arrived on a free after terminating his contract with Ethiopia’s St. George FC in June, putting the icing on the victory cake.

Arthur beat the offside trap and calmly doubled the advantage for Kotoko after Augustine Okrah had given them the lead via a brilliant free-kick as early as the second minute.

Richard Arthur’s work rate has generally been lauded since joining Kotoko but had lacked that one thing he was known for – goals – and believes the door to such is finally opened.

“I feel good,” he told the Kotoko Express App.

“As a striker, you need to step up to the stage in big games like this. I am very happy that, the floodgate of my goals has finally opened and I hope it continues,” Arthur prayed.

“All that I was craving for was my first goal for Asante Kotoko and thankfully, I had it, so the supporters should expect more from me because more goals will follow,” he added.

Richard Arthur will be hoping to help Asante Kotoko reach the Caf Champions League group stage for the first time since 2006 when they travel to face Etoile du Sahel in the second leg on September 29. The game will be played in Monastir.
