I want to play and develop, says Gideon Mensah

Ghana defender Gideon Mensah has made a switch from Red Bull Salzburg to Belgium’s Zulte Waregem on loan.

The former WAFA SC left-back has been handed shirt number 4 as he seeks more playing time away in the Jupiler Pro League for the entire 2019/20 season.

Mensah, 21, wants to ”play, learn and develop” in this new adventure.

“I’m happy to be here. This competition has a higher reputation than the Austrian Bundesliga and attracts many young talented players.

“At this age I mainly have to play to develop myself. There were other options but this club gave me the best feeling,” he said in his first interview after the move.

Gideon Mensah recently extended his Red Bull contract to summer 2024. This his third loan stint away from the Austrian champions after FC Liefering and Sturm Graz.
