‘Everybody talks well about Yacouba’ – Zachariassen

Asante Kotoko coach Kjetil Zachariassen is looking forward to working with talisman Songnè Yacouba after he finally rejoined his teammates in training Monday following a long absence.

But the Burkinabé striker looks far from immediate first-team action as he was taken through light workouts separate from his colleagues.

Speaking on the prospect of having the back into the team, head coach Kjetil Zachariassen prayed that the Burkinabe would win the injury battle so he could be assessed.

“Everybody talks well about him [Songnè Yacouba],” the Norwegian trainer said to Kotoko Express App.

“So, we hope he can get fit because he has some injury problem. He’s just running at the moment. We will check him. Let’s see how things work out for him.”

Yacouba, looked virtually on his way out early this summer but has so far not secured a deal as the few suitors failed to among other reasons meet the price tag slapped on him.

Last week, Yacouba, who had been away from the team since July, patched up his differences with the club’s management. This was after the George Amoako-led team had issued a query letter asking him why the hierarchy should not take actions against him for refusing to join the team for pre-season.

The 27-year-old reportedly replied apologizing and expressing his readiness to ink new deal with the Porcupine Warriors.

Clear-the-air talks on his arrival paved way for him to join his teammates at the Adako Jachie Training Complex Monday. The team is intensifying preparations for this weekend’s 2019/20 Caf Champions League preliminary round second leg tie against Kano Pillars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
