CHAN 2020Q: Ghana to host Burkina Faso Sept. 22

Ghana’s Black Stars ‘B’ will host the first leg of their 2020 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) final qualifying round tie with Burkina Faso on September 22, 2019.

The match, Footy-Ghana.com understands is highly likely to come off at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi that Sunday afternoon.

The reverse fixture is also scheduled for Friday, October 18 in Ouagadougou.

Both Ghana and Burkina Faso will be battling for one of three slots reserved for Wafu Zone B.

Ghana have failed to qualify for the last two CHAN tournaments. It was the Burkinabés who denied Coach Maxwell Konadu’s side qualification to the last edition, Morocco 2018. The local Stallions stunned the Black Stars ‘B’ 2-1 in Kumasi after being held to a 2-2 first-leg draw at home to qualify for the competition.

The other two deciders for Wafu Zone B are ties between Niger and Cote d’Ivoire as well as a Nigeria vs Benin/Togo clash.

15 teams will qualify to join hosts Cameroon for the 2020 Championship of African Nations finals scheduled to kick off in January.
