Adingra among foreign quartet battling for two Kotoko spots

CEO of the Porcupines indicates a player announced to have been signed is on trials.

Asante Kotoko CEO George Amoako has dramatically confirmed a U–turn on the club’s announcement on the signing of Ivorian Moussa Adingra ahead of their 2019/20 Caf Champions League campaign.

The forward is now battling for one of two spots reserved for foreign players.

Adingra was one of nine new arrivals the club publicized as new signings through their respective media channels over the past few days.

While a couple more players spotted around the club, Adingra together with Ugandan George Abege were the two foreign players who had been confirmed as signing three-year contracts each.

But in a twist of events, the CEO of the Porcupines says only Abege, signed from Kenya’s Kariobangi Sharks has been registered by Kotoko.

“As we speak now, the only foreigner on the radar who has been registered and is going to play for Kotoko, is George Abege,” George Amoako told Oyerepa FM Saturday.

He however indicated that new head coach Kjetil Zachariassen has been tasked to evaluate the fate of Adingra and three other foreign players currently training with the team.

The players include his compatriot Didi Alexis Arnaud (whose signing on picture with management member Nana Kwame Dankwah got leaked), Burkina Faso’s Nandji Zoumana Traore as well as Malian Moussa Kouyate who recently ended a brief stint with Elmina Sharks.

“…But we have four others and we are going to pick two and when they are picked by the coach, we will make it public,” Amoako explained.

Already, Moussa Adingra has been a subject of discussions among a section of the Kotoko fans who appear least enthused by the player’s athleticism. He however appeared to silence his critics when he scored twice in a training ground friendly on Saturday afternoon.
