Wafu B Women’s Cup: Black Queens make winning start to title defense

Debutants Evelyn Badu and Mukarama Abdulai delivered victory for defending champions Ghana in their opening match at the 2019 Wafu Zone B Women’s Championship.

The Black Queens scored two second half goals to beat Senegal at Stade Robert Champroux Wednesday night.

It was 16-year-old Badu who, hitherto, had no national team experience, that broke the deadlock in the 74th minute for coach Mercy Tagoe’s side.

U-17 World Cup hero Mukarama Abdulai then came off the bench to seal a deserved 2-0 victory on her first competitive appearance for the senior women’s team.

Centre-back Janet Egyir was named player of the match.

Hosts Cote d’Ivoire hammered Togo 5-0 in the opening match of Group A.
