‘No takeover transaction for Wa All Stars yet’

Wa All Stars have flatly denied reports that the club has been sold to renowned politician and lawmaker Hon. Haruna Iddrisu.

Reports in certain media circles Monday had claimed that the 48-year-old Member of Parliament for Tamale South had successfully taken over the club which has been up in the open market for a takeover from erstwhile Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi, who is being forced to relinquish his stakes as a result of a lifetime ban by Fifa.

Reacting to the reports, Nana Obiri Yeboah, the Operations Manager of Wa All Stars told Footy-Ghana.com:

“No, we’ve not completed any such transaction. A group representing somebody has expressed interest but no sale has taken effect.”

Mr. Yeboah further added that there are multiple groups who are in contact with the owners with regards to the acquisition of the Northern Blues.

“We have various groups that have expressed interest but no transaction has taken place with any of them,” he stated.

The reports which claimed the successful takeover of Wa All Stars by the Hon. Iddrisu, who doubles as the Minority Leader in Ghana’s Parliament, also stated he was set to relocate the club to Tamale and rename it Steadfast FC to replace the Division One side he also owns.

Ex-Ghana international John Paintsil and his team of investors recently came close to acquiring Wa All Stars but were unsuccessful as a result of some challenges in the payment process, we understand. Paintsil had gone ahead to effect changes to the ownership of the club at the Registrar General’s Department and even renamed the club Stallions FC.
