Ebusua Dwarfs arrested their miserable run of form in the Normalization Special Cup with a hard-fought 1-0 victory away to Inter Allies Sunday.
Isaac Donkor scored the winner for the ‘Mysterious Club’ in the Premier B match-day 6 fixture at the Tema Stadium.
The home side enjoyed some early dominance but failed to utilize the chances. Nsungusi Jnr piled pressure on the defence of Dwarfs but they soaked it all to prevent an early goal.
Having suffered four defeats in the opening four games, the visiting Dwarfs threaded cautiously to prevent another defeat on the road.
But the performance of their hosts in the early minutes, motivated Dwarfs to fancy their chances up front.
And, on the 33rd minute Isaac Donkor saw his strike aided by a deflection to beat goalkeeper Salifu Saeed in posts for Inter Allies.
The visitors maintained a water-tight defense to ensure they ended the first half with a 1-0 lead.
Inter Allies continued their dominance after the break. They piled incessant pressure to level up but their efforts proved futile.
Dwarfs resorted to the time-wasting tactics which saw the pressure on them go up. But the lack of precision on the part of the Capelli boys left the visitors off the hook.
Goalkeeper Wiredu Mensah Danso also put up splendid performance to rescue Dwarfs from conceding a late equalizer.
Ebusua Dwarfs, who also salvaged their first point in the competition last weekend in a local derby at Elmina Sharks, are now on 4 points but sit bottom of the 8-team Premier B log. They come after Inter Allies who also have 5 points from six games.
