David Addy: Ghana’s U-20 World Cup winner joins Ilves FC

Ghana defender David Addy has secured a return to Finnish football by signing for topflight side Ilves FC on Friday.

The 28-year-old left-back, who previously featured in the colours of rivals RoPS, signed a contract for the 2019 season. The deal also includes an option to extend for the 2020 season.

Addy arrived in Tampere Thursday evening and joins his new teammates in training with immediate effect. He could mark his debut when they host former club RoPS in a Suomen Cup match on Saturday.

With the addition of Ilves FC, the former Inter Allies FC trainee is now enjoying a 12-club career which has seen play for the likes of Randers FC, FC Porto, Vitoria de Guimaraes, Waasland-Beveren, Delhi Dynamos and Latvian side Riga FC

David Addy was part of the Black Satellites squad that won the 2009 African Youth Championship and went on to win the Under-20 Fifa World Cup held in Egypt later that year.

The 2019 Veikkausliiga is scheduled to kick off April 3.
