The Josephs: Ghana duo score for Genk in Europa League

Young Ghana internationals Joseph Paintsil and namesake Aidoo both scored for Belgian giants KRC Genk in the final round of group matches in the 2018/19 Uefa Europa League Thursday night.

Playing in front of their home crowd at the Luminus Arena, Genk romped to a 4-0 victory over Norwegian club Sarpsborg to top Group I and advance to the Round of 32.

20-year-old attacker Paintsil, a summer signing from Tema Youth, struck in the 5th minute to ensure Genk unsettled their visitors with two quick-fire goals. Zinho Gano had registered the opener on two minutes.

Berg extended the lead in the 64th minute before Aidoo, 23, a former Ghana U-20 skipper and centre-back, sealed the 4-0 victory with his debut goal in the Europa League three minutes later.

Both players lasted the entire duration of the game.

KRC Genk will know their Europa League Round of 32 opponents when the draw is held in Nyon December 17.
