Caf CL: Gor Mahia camp in Accra ahead of Lobi Stars return leg

Kenyan champions Gor Mahia have pitched a two-day camp in Ghana ahead of their 2018/19 Caf Champions League second leg encounter away to Nigeria’s Lobi Stars.

K’ogalo, who won the first leg 3-1, arrived in Accra Wednesday and will stay around till Friday when they make a short trip to Nigerian capital Abuja before connecting to Enugu for the fixture scheduled for Saturday, December 22.

Gor Mahia opted to camp in Accra after they failed to secure a direct flight from Nairobi to Enugu ahead of the group stage qualification decider at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

“l spoke to the Team Manager Jolawi Obondo who confirmed the team’s arrival in Accra where they will camp and train for two days before heading to Abuja then to Enugu on Friday,” Gor Mahia’s treasurer Sally Bolo stated.

She added: “Our plan was to fly to Abuja then to Enugu straight but we had to change because Lobi Stars didn’t manage to get us today’s flight…so, we camp and train at neutral ground before the match and Accra was more appropriate.

“Once the team lands in Abuja on Friday, our host (Lobi Stars) will provide the flight to Enugu as per Caf regulations – that if the distance of playing venue is more than 200km outside the capital city, the host should cater for the traveling cost.”

Meanwhile, another Kenyan club, Kariobangi Sharks, will be heading to Ghana to face giants Asante Kotoko in a Caf Confederation Cup fixture. Sharks are scheduled to arrive Accra from Nairobi Thursday morning. Kotoko have confirmed that they will be flown to Kumasi for Saturday’s clash upon arrival.
