Ex-Swansea boss linked with Andre Ayew reunion at Fenerbahce

Ghana forward Andre Ayew and Portuguese manager Carlos Carvalhal could be re-united at Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce.

According to reports in Turkey, the former Swansea City boss could be brought in as a replacement for Philip Cocu.

Fenerbahce have suffered a terrible start to the season, having lost three consecutive games and an early exit from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Benfica.

The pressure has subsequently increased on Cocu, who has only been in charge of the Turkish side for six weeks.

The Dutch tactician has reportedly already held talks with on-loan Swansea attacker Andre Ayew over an alleged disagreement relating to the Ghanaian’s best position.

The Black Stars man insists he is best deployed on the left, something he has not enjoyed under Cocu’s leadership thus far.

According to Sky Sports, former Swans boss Carvalhal is being considered as a possible replacement, with the Portuguese enjoying a good reputation in Istanbul following a spell with rivals Besiktas back in 2011.

The 52-year-old has been out of work since the end of last season, leaving the Liberty Stadium after he was unable to prevent Swansea’s relegation to the EFL Championship.

However, Carvalhal would prefer continuing his career in England, having already reportedly turned down a return to Portugal with Sporting Lisbon.
