Ghana’s Andre Ayew netted his second goal of the season and prevented Fenerbahçe from an Istanbul derby loss to rivals Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig Monday night.
Former Liverpool star Ryan Babel drew first blood for the visitors at the Şükrü Saraçoğlu Stadium with a powerful strike outside the penalty area in the 40th minute.
Fenerbahçe responded in the second half with Ayew who scored a curved header past Beşiktaş’ goalkeeper Loris Karius in the 71st minute.

The match ended 1-1, becoming Fenerbahçe’s first draw of the 2018/19 campaign. They however have just 7 points so far from six games.
Meanwhile, prior to kickoff, Fenerbahçe honoured ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah and other club greats. Appiah played for the team between 2005 and 2008.
