Aduana sack Yusif Abubakar

Ghanaian champions Aduana Stars have dispensed with the services of head coach Yusif Abubabar, Footy-Ghana.com can confirm.

The trainer, who had few weeks left to his contract, was ordered to vacate his position while preparing the side to host DR Congo’s AS Vita Club in the Caf Confederation Cup next week. He was asked to leave with immediate effect after leading the side’s training on Tuesday, top club sources explained to Footy-Ghana.

Coach Abu joined the Fire Club in November 2016 and went on to make an instant impact by winning the Ghana Premier League in his first season.

His future has been in doubt in recent months due to the side’s not-so-impressive campaign in both the Caf inter-club competitions and the ZylofonCash Premier League.

Aduana, despite their huge investment in acquiring top players, failed to make an impact in the Caf Champions League. They dropped to the Confederation Cup and managed to reach the group stage where they have amassed only a point from two games.

Though with a three games in hand, Aduana also find themselves at 14th position with 14 points at the end of the first round of the 2017/18 ZylofonCash Premier League.

Aduana are likely to immediately appoint an expatriate as coach Abubakar’s replacement.
