Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey won his first European silverware Wednesday night as Atletico Madrid thrashed Olympique Marseille 3-0 to win the 2017/18 Uefa Europa League.
Partey started the final at Lyon’s Groupama Stadium from the bench and was introduced in the 88th minute.
Before his introduction, Frenchman Antoine Griezmann had given the Spanish side a deserved two-goal lead before Gabi put the icing on the cake in the 89th minute – a goal which had Partey involved in its buildup.
The Europa League win is the first in Partey’s professional career.
Thomas Partey, 24, this season, featured eight times for Atletico Madrid in the Europa League – chalking 477 minutes with one assist.
