Medeama secure vital win over Dreams

Medeama SC maintained their fine form in the Ghana Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Dreams FC on matchday 12 at the Tarkwa and Aboso Park.

Kwasi Donsu’s explicit free kick and Eric Kwakwa’s late strike assured the Yellow and Mauves matched on to their sixth win of the season.

Medeama looked the sharper of both sides as they created goal-worthy chances but their attackers failed to make it count.

Dreams, on the other hand, warmed themselves into the game with Leonard Owusu controlling the tempo of the game. The skipper’s delightful passes in midfield was commended by the T&A crowd but it had less influence on the scoreline.

However, the Believers nearly grabbed the opener after Owusu set up veteran striker Eric Gawu but he fired wide with the first half coming to a close. Both sides went into the half without a goal.

Meadeama came into the second half, the more determined side, uplifting their game in attack. But they had till the 60th minute for Kwasi Donsu’s expertly curled free kick to break the deadlock.

The home side kept probing for a 2-0 lead but goalkeeper Isaac Amoako was up for the task. The former Kotoko goalie showed experience in his dealings for Dreams.

But how long can Amoako hold? With four minutes to the end of the encounter, Eric Kwakwa netted for Medeama.

Kwasi Donsu scooped the NASCO Man of the Match gong.

The triumph means Medeama climb to second with 20 points, Ashantigold lead the league log with 21 points.
