Kotoko’s team spirit low now – Jordan Opoku

Experienced Asante Kotoko midfielder Jordan Opoku has said team spirit in the current setup is “a little down” compared to his previous stints at the club.

The Porcupine Warriors have endured an unimpressive campaign in the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League having lost five of their eleven games played so far.

Opoku, who enjoyed success with the Porcupines in his two earlier spells, 2006 to 2011 and 2013 and 2015, asserts that the known spirit of the team is not evident in this current squad.

“Right now things are not working well for us. But it’s a matter of time. We need to keep working together.”

“The team spirit is a little down. When you compare it to the previous times I was with Kotoko, the team spirit was better then,” the 36-year-old ended.

In his two stints at the club, Jordan won 4 league titles, 1 FA Cup trophy and 2 Super Cup honours.

Kotoko are competing for the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League title but their chances look gloomy as regional neighbours AshantiGold lead the pack with 20 points after 11 games. The MTN FA Cup holders are 6 points behind the Miners.
